The 10 Song Crusader Shuffle- a little something to tide you over til we get to our next album!

The Josh- Alright boys, put your iPod/iTunes Library on Shuffle, list the first ten songs it plays and give a description of them, say whatever you want. No cheating, if it brings up something embarassing, you gotta list it, I'll go first:

1. Beck - Ramshackle
Awesome song. and sad. Beck is sad, maybe.

2. Buddy Holly - Look At Me
This song is kind of cheesy. You gotta be in the right mood for some Buddy Holly.

3. The Band - Jemima Surrender (Early Version)
This version isn't really that different from the album version. This song is great. I'm pretty sure I've said more than enough about The Band lately.

4. RJD2 - The Proxy
Very cool song. I love RJ, cool drum programming in this track too, very short and I think it helps the song.

5. Johnny Cash - A Satisfied Mind
I only have this because it's on the Kill Bill soundtrack. Way to go, QT!

6. The Kinks - Lincoln County
A Kinks bonus track, one of Dave Davies songs. This song is great, a fave of mine. Would be right at home in a Wes Anderson flick.

7. Heatmiser - Blue Highway
I haven't really given this album enough listen, Elliott Smith's band before he went solo. What I've heard of it I really really like.

8. Kanye West - Skit #4(Late Registration)
I hate these skits.

9. Sufjan Stevens - I Saw Three Ships
I love these Sufjan Xmas albums, they're really sweet.

10. Modest Mouse - Birds Vs. Worms
Ah, old Modest Mouse, gotta love some fucking Modest Mouse

Your turns, fellas.

Sir Jon- Grip your balls and wipe your forehead, here my blazin’ ten come!

1. Midnight From The Inside Out- The Black Crowes
A rocker from my boys from an under-appreciated Crowes album. Crob’s howls bring this number up a notch in my book.

2. Gideon- My Morning Jacket
never really gave “Z” the time of day. Jim James really goes off at the end, but I’m reminded of why this got one listen and got tossed, yawn.

3. Without A Kiss- Badly Drawn Boy
Recent BDB, nice and soft, great piano, love that BDB. Gets bouncy, more upbeat towards the end, what a pro! He looks like a british koala for god’s sake.

4. Ok by Me- The Black Crowes
This is from one of their unreleased albums, but coulda easily been on a studio album. A solid rocker, and Crob lets it all out, Rod Stewart style!

5. Novocaine (Live at E-werk)- Beck
One of my all-time fave Beck songs, and this is actually a really good live recording. They totally rock out and you can understand Beck, and once the breakdown occurs you can help but start doing the robot- what a jam!

6. Sunday Bloody Sunday- U2
One of the Josh’s fave drum solos of all time, and this is a U2 classic. A great protest song, the boys do their Irish brothers proud here!

7. The Fries- Mr. Lif
Mr. Mo Mega ranting against the fast food society whilst making fun of them, good stuff. “Don’t forget the fries!”

8. D(Final)- Fresh Productions
Oh, you fuggin know it. The Hip-hop George Wendt and Mr. License Plate himself ripping off some dope jams up in this joint!

9. Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space- Spiritualized
Atmospheric pop, very cool. Reminds me a lot of Super Furry Animals and this means I like it a hell of a lot.

10. Apostolic- Loose Fur
Tweedy and the boys jam out in this cool number! Great riffs in the middle here. This life is the one for me!

El Chriz-
1. Dramarama - Stuck in Wonderamaland: A bittersweet song about making it in the California scene. Dramarama is really an underrated band. A nice discovery. This one is a ballad in kind of a Dylan style. Great song.

2. Anthrax - Strap It On - "Take me back to a golden time... from 85 to 89.... Strap it on... my old school..." All about celebrating old school metal. Back when it meant strapping on a jean jacket with your favorite metal band ironed onto the back. Great track. Dimebag Darrel (RIP) plays lead on this.

3. The Cure - Just Like Heaven (Dizzy Mix) - A nice remixed version of their most popular single. A B-side to a single that came out in the early 90s.

4. The Rolling Stones - Shine A Light - Quick, what album is this from? An Exile song that gets lost among the other giants on that classic album. On it's own, this is a fantastic song with a nice little guitar solo. Could have been written by The Band. Thanks for making me hear it again, Josh.

5. The Rolling Stones - Waiting on a Friend - "I'm not waiting on a lady... I'm just waiting on a friend." A love note from Mick to Keith? The original crusader's love theme... and a nice little song at that.

6. The White Stripes - Jumble, Jumble - From De Stijl. If these guys were around in the 60s, they would have been frightening. This song makes me want to do the twist and mosh at the same time.

7. Aberfeldy - Something I Must Tell You - A great little band with one of the most misleading album covers of all time. This song sounds like Josh Rouse teamed up with what's-her-name from Belle and Sebastian (Isobel Campbell).

8. Paul Burch - Montreal - I'm not familiar with Paul Burch at all... but I downloaded a couple of tracks regardless and like them quite well. Check out his loving tribute to John Peel on The Director's Chair anthology (Jon, I'll get you updated discs soon. Josh, you can suck it... you'll skip through it anyway*). I don't have much to say about this song other than I like it. It's still new to me.

9. The Scorpions - Lust or Love - I like 80s metal, okay? But even I cringe when I get blasted with cheese while partaking of more substantial nourishment. Number nine hit me like a shaken up can of Cheese Wiz. But, on a positive note, The Scorpions have more albums than you may imagine, have been around since the early 70s, and still rock like a hurricane. Kudos to them.

10. Pearl Jam - You Are - Neither of you have heard this song before. But damned if it isn't cool as hell. I want this to be on our Crusader soundtrack... to be played during the following scene: EXT- DESERT SETTING- NIGHT. We are under a beautiful desert moon. The cactus trees are lit by the glow of a campfire. El Chriz and a beautiful senorita (Salma Hayek) are wrapped completely nude in a navajo blanket. She moans passionately as she nears orgasm.

*Just kidding. You know I think of you when I hear the fifth song on this list. The love is strong.
