IPod Shuffle, May 15, 2007. El Chriz

1. John Mellencamp – “Overture”
This one is for you Jon. My IPod is kicking out the Mellencamp right out of the gate. This track is an instrumental overture that opens up Mr. Happy Go Lucky, an album each of you should spin before casting judgment against Mellencamp. It may actually impress you.

2. Pixies – “Hey”
From the phenomenal Doolittle. Simply put, one of my all-time favorite albums and a bona fide classic. Highly recommended.

3. The Rolling Stones – “Factory Girl”
A fantastic Irish-sounding folk song from Beggar’s Banquet. Fantastic.

4. The Gorillas – “Dare”
This track competes with “Feel Good Inc.” for my favorite from Demon Days; one of the best albums from 2004.

5. Jack Black – “Singing at the Party”
From the Nacho Libre soundtrack via a great Josh mix. I haven’t seen the film and probably won’t. I think it would ruin my memory of really funny trailers.

6. Deerhoof – “You Can See”
Noise art from The Runners Four. I haven’t embraced these guys quite like Josh and Jay, but I do highly admire their style and a few select tracks.

7. Bob Dylan – “All Along The Watchtower”
I think this is one of the few songs in history where a cover version actually trumps the original. Hendrix stole this from Dylan and gave it new life. Still, the original is fantastic. Love these lyrics.

8. Dramarama – “Scenario”
One of my favorite tracks from Cinema Verite. These guys deserved a better fate. Such good stuff.

9. The Rolling Stones – “Rocks Off”
“Plug in, flush out and fire the fuckin' feed.” Is this the first f-bomb dropped on record by Mick? This is the perfect opener to Exile. I love this album.

10. The Rolling Stones – “Laugh, I nearly Died”
Latter-day Stones are easy to dismiss, but all of their albums, including A Bigger Bang, have gems on it, this being one of them. I think this was released as a single. Final note, they kicked ass in C’Ville.
